Nick began his career in Architecture and Interior Design. He went on to study these subjects at Birmingham Art College. In his spare time he worked at Birmingham Rep and the National Theater. Then, he spent many years in film and television as a designer/art director.
Later, he became a committed, long serving, hatha yoga practitioner/teacher. His love of fine art shone through and he also turned to painting and was asked to do many commissions and murals.
His works are colourful with a strong metaphysical and symbolic slant that penetrate and provoke our psyche, evoking powerful quotes, such as "all the world's a stage," and ask fundamental questions like "who am I?”
"Its only in the last few years that I found new inspiration through the yoga philosophy (Vedanta); the impermanence of objects and people in natural, architectural spaces - frames within frames; the mind fragmenting our lives. I paint more about the idea than just forms. Quick sketches, photos and writing help discover a deeper, more personal story than originally encountered. Then, if an image rises through meditation, it's explored straight onto canvas either realistically, through the surreal or as an abstract".
